Tips for Protecting the Elderly and Shut-ins
You hear it all of the time, the elderly and shut-ins are taken advantage by care takers. Let me be real clear here that all care persons are not out there to hurt the elderly and shut-ins. They are simply working this job to take care of them selves as well as they honestly want to help others. But if you run into a situation in which your love one or someone you know is being taken advantage there are a few ways that you may be able to protect them from people misusing them. You can first of all make yourself are someone in the family visible and available to the love one, communicate with them on a regular bases, keep important documents and valuables in a private place and under lock and key, get to know the care takers and check behind them. Talk with the caretaker’s agency if they have one and get to know the agency manager; that they work with and report any suspicions right away and if necessary ask for a new person to work with. These suggestions will not solve the problem but will help the situation, tremendously.
