Don’t Complain about Your Grown Children

Published by tarchris at 4:04 pm under Complaints Edit This

The phone rings, I look at my caller ID and I see a name. I should just not answer but for some reason I do and it is them again complaining about their grown up kids. I wish they would stop because the story is always the same.

This gets on my nerves because the kids are a reflection of them and their teaching and if they are lazy bums, it is because they created those selfish monsters. They gave them everything they wanted when they were little and now that they’re grown up they’re just bigger selfish monsters.

This is why they can’t keep a job – why they can’t make their marriage work and why they take advantage of their parents. I mean come on, does a 40 year old who can’t keep a job, really need his mama to buy him a car and condo? Come on. He should get it himself. But, his momma just says “I just can’t understand little Johnnie he can’t hold a job, he keeps having kids and won’t settle down-we didn’t raise him like this.”

Flashback 25 years – yes you did. When Johnnie just had to have a brand new car at 15, you bought it for him. When he didn’t want to stay in the dorm, you bought him a condo  (even though he was flunking out of school). And the story continues.

Therefore, I really don’t want to hear about how little Johnnie went astray. I don’t want to hear about how you didn’t raise him this way or that way. I don’t want to hear about Johnnie at all.

Instead, just leave me alone and stop complaining if you’re going to keep spoiling Johnnie and if he keeps acting up and never gets it, you have no one to blame but your bleeping yourself.

Children learn what they live. If they are shown gratitude, then they are thankful. If they are taught responsibility they are responsible. And if they are given everything they ever want in life then they end up spoiled. So stop complaining and do something about it!
